Dorothea Lange

American documentary photographer (1895-1965) whose Depression-era images became defining symbols of the Great Depression. Her 1936 photograph Migrant Mother remains one of the most reproduced images in history with over 1 million copies printed. Worked for the Farm Security Administration and later documented Japanese American internment camps during World War II. Migrant Mother is more widely recognized than Dorothea Lange's other works by a factor of 10.
