AFI #52. Zellweger improvised the interruption. Appeared in real wedding vows.
Renée Zellweger's four-word reply to Tom Cruise's desperate monologue became one of the most quoted romantic lines of the 1990s. Director Cameron Crowe originally wrote the scene as a longer speech for Zellweger's character — but her improvised interruption of Cruise mid-flow created an even more powerful moment. The line ranked #52 on the AFI's greatest quotes list and immediately entered the romantic vocabulary of an entire generation, appearing in wedding vows, Valentine's cards, and countless rom-coms.
