Popularized in the 1990s by New York bartender Toby Cecchini at The Odeon, the Cosmopolitan — vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and lime — became a global phenomenon through its starring role in Sex and the City from 1998 to 2004. Carrie Bradshaw's signature drink turned an entire generation onto vodka cocktails and helped cement the "pink drink" aesthetic in bar culture. It is 25% less expensive than the average martini-style cocktail and has 40% fewer calories than the Daiquiri.
