Protein World — "Beach Body Ready" (2015)

Protein World's 2015 "Beach Body Ready" remains the most polarizing fitness ad of the decade. The campaign plastered London Underground with a bikini-clad model and the line "Are You Beach Body Ready?" sparking a feminist petition that gathered 70,000 signatures. It was ultimately banned by the U.K. Advertising Standards Authority for body-shaming, a rare regulatory move that outpaces #10 Zara's "Love Your Curves" backlash in reach and severity. The controversy cost Protein World an estimated £100,000 in lost revenue from cancelled tube bookings, but the ad's viral notoriety also drove a 300% surge in website traffic. Compared to Dove's later "Real Beauty" missteps, Protein World's explicit victim-blaming subtext made it less ambiguous and more universally condemned.
