Reachable only by boat. A 1980 cigarette-smuggler wreck rusts on electric-blue Ionian sand.
Navagio Beach on the Greek island of Zakynthos is accessible only by boat β sheer limestone cliffs drop hundreds of metres on three sides, completely enclosing a small cove of blinding white pebbles and intensely blue water. The rusted hull of the MV Panagiotis, a cigarette smuggler that ran aground in 1980, sits at the western end, giving the beach its English name. The contrast between the rust-orange wreck, chalk-white pebbles, and electric-blue Ionian Sea creates a scene that looks digitally enhanced. Best visited May through September.
