Gearbox Software's fourth mainline entry in the looter-shooter franchise, released in September 2025, arrived with four new Vault Hunters, a new alien planet, and a villain the developers positioned to rival Handsome Jack — the iconic antagonist whose shadow has loomed over every Borderlands sequel. The massively expanded skill tree system and four-player co-op structure drew strong reviews, and the series' signature blend of procedurally generated weapons, irreverent humour, and addictive loot loops remained as compelling as ever.
