Pokemon GO did something no game before or since has managed β it got millions of people to go outside and walk. Using AR and GPS, Niantic turned the real world into a Pokemon-catching playground. The summer of 2016 saw strangers gathering in parks, businesses becoming PokeStops, and emergency rooms treating walking-related injuries. It's generated over $6 billion in revenue and still pulls 80 million monthly players a decade later.
