Joe Flizzow

Joe Flizzow, the founding father of Malaysian hip-hop, established rap as a permanent part of the Malaysian mainstream through his bilingual Malay-English style and Kartel Records label. His protégés, including SonaOne, Altimet, and a generation of rappers, dominate the scene, and his debut album sold 50,000 copies within six months. This sales figure is 25% higher than the average Malaysian hip-hop release, but he is outperformed by #6 Exist's album "Satu" which sold twice as many copies in the same timeframe, though no other act on this list has his genre-spanning influence.
