Tanjong Jara Resort, Terengganu

Tanjong Jara Resort was built on the Terengganu coast in the style of a 17th-century Malay istana, with pitched roofs, carved timber and open pavilions; the design won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1983. It opened in 1980 on a stretch of the South China Sea where green turtles come ashore to nest between May and September.
