On Langkawi's deserted northeast coast, Tanjung Rhu is a three-kilometre sweep of powder-fine white sand backed by casuarina trees and facing a jade-green bay studded with sea stacks. At low tide the sand bar stretches far enough to walk to the adjacent island, and the sunsets here, filtered through the limestone silhouettes, are among the most memorable in Southeast Asia.
