Perro Aguayo remains the most physically imposing and genuinely dangerous figure in Mexican wrestling history. His brawling, streetfight-style matches in the 1980s and 1990s pioneered the violent, no-holds-barred combat that created the Mexican hardcore wrestling subgenre, drawing arena crowds of over 10,000. Aguayo's influence outstrips Rey Mysterio Jr. in raw intensity and fear factor, though Mysterio surpasses him in global fame. His son Perro Aguayo Jr. carried the family legacy until a tragic ring accident ended his career at 35.
