El Santo remains Mexico's most iconic popular culture figure, with a legacy unmatched by any other luchador. The Silver Masked Man wore his silver mask in public for his entire 50-year career, including in 52 films where he fought vampires, aliens, and Nazis. His coffin was buried with the mask at his 1984 funeral, cementing his image as a national symbol.
