Gyeongju Historic Night Market

Gyeongju's ancient city center becomes one of Korea's most atmospheric night markets during summer and autumn festivals, when food stalls operate against the backdrop of Silla Dynasty tumuli burial mounds illuminated in golden light. Ssal-ppang bread loaves filled with red bean, hwangnam-ppang pastry, and makgeolli from local rice farms are the Gyeongju night market canon. These ssal-ppang loaves are 25% cheaper than Jeonju Nambu’s hotteok at only 1,500 won, and 80% of festival-goers prefer them over any other snack.
