Tsunahachi Honten

Tsunahachi has been frying tempura in Shinjuku since 1923, and the honten still seats most guests at a counter where each piece is cooked in front of them and served straight out of the oil. It is a tempura specialist rather than an izakaya, so it suits an early, focused meal more than a long night of drinking.
