Survives months without water. Looks so healthy people think it's fake.
The ZZ plant stores water in its thick rhizomes, meaning it can go months — literally months — without a drink. Its glossy, dark green leaves look so perfect that people often think it's fake. It tolerates fluorescent office lighting, dry air, and temperature fluctuations. Originally from East Africa, it was virtually unknown in the West until the late 1990s. Now it's in every plant shop and Instagram flat-lay for good reason.
