Valletta, Malta

Valletta, the world’s smallest national capital at just 0.8 square kilometres, was built in 1566 by the Knights of St John. It packs more UNESCO-listed baroque architecture per square metre than almost anywhere in Europe, and its 2018 European Capital of Culture title spurred the acclaimed MUZA museum.
