Only goalkeeper to win World Cup Golden Ball. 2002 Player of Tournament. One fateful error in the final.
Oliver Kahn remains the only goalkeeper in World Cup history to win both the Golden Glove and Golden Ball in 2002, a double even #6 Peter Shilton never achieved. He conceded just once in normal play over 7 matches, a rate of 0.14 goals per game — faster than the typical tournament winner's defense. That lone error, however, allowed Ronaldo's winning goal, a rare blemish on a record-breaking campaign.
