A joint project of 15 nations and 5 space agencies (NASA, Roscosmos, ESA, JAXA, CSA), the International Space Station has maintained a continuous human presence in orbit since November 2000 β over 24 years without interruption. The station spans 109 metres (wider than a football field), orbits Earth every 90 minutes at 7.7 km/s, and has hosted over 270 people from 21 countries. It has produced more than 3,300 research publications in microgravity science.
