Recorded on October 24, 1962, James Brown's incendiary King Records live album spent 14 months on the Billboard 200 — reaching #2 — an almost unheard-of feat for a live R&B record. Brown financed the recording himself after the label refused; the result is a 31-minute non-stop soul sermon that became the blueprint for live performance.
