Inter Milan 1963–1965 — Grande Inter

2 consecutive European Cups. 20 goals conceded in 30 games. Catenaccio perfected. Standard reference for Italian defence.

Helenio Herrera's Grande Inter won back-to-back European Cups in 1964 and 1965 and three Serie A titles — 1963, 1965, and 1966 — using one of the most disciplined versions of catenaccio ever deployed. Sandro Mazzola and Jair formed an attacking partnership efficient enough to secure European glory, making Grande Inter a benchmark for Italian defensive perfectionism, including against the better-known defensive sides of AC Milan.
