Red (1981) — Black Uhuru

Black Uhuru's Red (1981), produced by Sly and Robbie, helped bridge reggae to 1980s rock and new-wave audiences at a pivotal moment for the genre. Its pioneering fusion of militant Rasta lyrics with Sly Dunbar's drum machines and Robbie Shakespeare's basslines pushed reggae toward a more digital, experimental sound, paving the way for the band's follow-up, Anthem, which won the first-ever Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 1985.
