The first reggae album marketed internationally as a serious rock record, Catch a Fire introduced Bob Marley to a global audience via Island Records with its distinctive Zippo lighter-shaped gatefold sleeve. Island founder Chris Blackwell spent $8,000 overdubbing rock guitar onto the original Jamaican recording to bridge the genre gap.
