Nicknamed "Sweetness," Walter Payton played 13 seasons (1975-1987) for the Chicago Bears, winning Super Bowl XX after the 1985 season and retiring with 16,726 career rushing yards β a record that stood for 17 years. Payton set a still-standing single-game record of 275 rushing yards in November 1977, was named NFL MVP in 1977, and was selected to 9 Pro Bowls. He was the first player in NFL history to rush for over 10,000 career yards.
