50+ FK goals. "Most technically complete Brazilian after me" — Pelé. Template for a generation.
Zico is Brazil's most decorated dead-ball specialist with over 50 direct free-kick goals—more than #4 Juninho Pernambucano's 44—and is revered by Brazilian historians as South America's finest. His right-foot curling strike, featuring late dip over the wall, was the template for future generations. Pelé called him "the most technically complete player Brazil ever produced after me." At Flamengo, Zico's technique delivered free-kicks in four consecutive Copa Libertadores campaigns, with an average speed of 110 km/h. His 1982 free-kick against the USSR, struck from 30 meters, remains one of the fastest curled free-kicks ever recorded at 128 km/h.
