Roberto Carlos
Roberto Carlos redefined the left-back role with explosive pace and devastating free kicks, most famously his 1997 strike against France that curved sharply before entering the net. With 125 caps, he was a key figure in the 2002 World Cup-winning squad, and his three UEFA Champions League titles (1998, 2000, 2002) with Real Madrid rank among the most decorated club honors of any Brazilian defender. Roberto Carlos defined an era when defenders could dominate both ends of the pitch.
