Socrates
Socrates remains the most cerebral figure in Brazilian football history. The 6-foot-4 midfielder captained the iconic 1982 World Cup side and co-founded the Corinthians Democracy movement, a direct challenge to Brazil's military dictatorship. His goal tally from midfield also exceeds the typical career output of most Brazilian center-backs, proving his scoring prowess wasn't mere luck.
