Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy is the last surviving giant of the Chicago blues scene, an eight-time Grammy Award winner whose electrifying stage presence and stinging Stratocaster tone became a direct template for Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, who called him "the best guitar player alive." His 1991 comeback album "Damn Right, I've Got the Blues" revived his career and introduced him to a new generation of listeners. Guy's early singles, including "Stone Crazy," found only modest chart success before later making Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitar songs. His Legends club in Chicago, open since 1989, remains a mecca for fans, though his commercial breakthrough arrived decades later than #7 Elmore James, whose "Dust My Broom" reached #9 on the R&B chart in 1952.
