Nebuta Matsuri

Nebuta Matsuri offers a visually overwhelming spectacle each August, as 20 giant illuminated paper-wire floats—some over 9 meters wide and weighing 4 tons—parade through Aomori's streets. The festival annually attracts 2.8 million spectators, generating ¥35 billion in local tourism revenue. Haneto dancers weave around the floats, with tickets for prime viewing spots costing ¥3,000 during the August 2–7 event period.
