Kite Flying — Bermuda

Bermudians fly homemade kites on Good Friday — said to originate from a teacher who used a kite to explain the Ascension to students. The island fills with thousands of colourful kites, and the tradition is so widespread that it outperforms #4 in local participation, with 85% of Bermudians crafting or flying one annually.
