Ireen Wüst is the most decorated Dutch Winter Olympian, winning six gold medals across five consecutive Games—a feat matched by fewer than 2% of all Winter Olympians. She outperforms Marco van Basten’s international trophy count by claiming gold in five different speed skating events, including the 1500m. Her 11 Olympic medals overall are the most by any Dutch athlete, and she set a world record in the 1500m at age 34, 15% faster than the average Olympic champion.
