Poodles are the second-smartest dog breed (after Border Collies) and the only one available in three sizes—standard, miniature, and toy. Their hypoallergenic coat sheds 90% less than that of a Golden Retriever, making them ideal for allergy sufferers. Poodles are athletic and trainable, ranking in the top 5 breeds for obedience. Don't let the fancy haircuts fool you: they are surprisingly goofy and will outsmart you with a wagging tail. Compared to Golden Retrievers, Poodles demand more mental stimulation but shed far less.
