Turkey
$40-60/day. Hagia Sophia: free. Balloon ride: $150. Hammam: $15. Lira depreciation.
Average daily budget: $40-60. The Turkish lira's depreciation is bad for Turks but extraordinary for foreign visitors. Istanbul alone is worth the trip — Hagia Sophia (free), Grand Bazaar, Bosphorus ferry ($1), and kebab dinners for $5-8. Cappadocia's hot air balloon rides cost $150-200 (cheaper than most comparable experiences worldwide). The Turkish Riviera (Antalya, Fethiye, Kas) has Mediterranean beaches without Mediterranean prices. A Turkish bath (hammam) in a historic bathhouse costs $15-30. Turkish Airlines' hub in Istanbul makes connections to everywhere cheap.
