Average daily budget: $25-40. Nepal has the Himalayas, including Everest Base Camp trek ($1,200 for 12 days including permits, guides, and teahouse stays) and the Annapurna Circuit ($800 for 14 days). Outside of trekking, Kathmandu Valley has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites within 20km. Pokhara is a lakeside backpacker town with $5/night guesthouses and paragliding for $70. Dal bhat (the national dish) costs $2-3 and comes with unlimited refills. Nepal is one of the few places where world-class adventure experiences cost less than a weekend at a US national park.
