Bulgaria 2-1 Germany — USA 1994
Bulgaria 2-1 Germany. Stoichkov on fire. Bulgaria reached the semifinals. Nobody saw it coming.
Bulgaria's 2-1 victory over defending champions Germany in the 1994 quarterfinals remains the greatest single-match upset by an Eastern European team in World Cup history, as Hristo Stoichkov and Yordan Letchkov's free-kick stunned the 1990 winners. Bulgaria, making only their third World Cup appearance, reached the semifinals.
