EA Black Box's 2005 street racer nailed the fantasy of outrunning increasingly aggressive police pursuits through a sun-drenched open world. Its Blacklist structure, cross-platform dominance on PS2 and Xbox 360, and the visceral cop chases set a standard that no NFS game has matched since.
