Big Wave Bay Beach

Big Wave Bay (Tai Long Wan) on Hong Kong Island's south-east coast is the only surfing beach on the island, with consistent waves from May to November. The beach has LCSD lifeguards, shark nets, and a surf school that caters to children from age 6. When the surf is small, the beach is excellent for families; on bigger swell days it is best reserved for confident older children. It outperforms #2 Tung Wan Beach in wave consistency during peak season, with 30% more rideable days from May to November. Accessible by Bus 9 from Shau Kei Wan MTR.
