Released in 2016 when Bad Bunny was still working at a supermarket in Puerto Rico, La Nueva Religión was uploaded to SoundCloud and immediately attracted the attention of DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz, who signed him on the spot. Its raw trap production, confessional lyrics, and emotional directness were unlike anything in Latin urban music. It was the beginning of the most extraordinary career in Latin music's history.
