Salinas Grandes

Salinas Grandes is the largest salt flat in Argentina, spanning 12,000 km² at 3,400 meters elevation, with a surface reflecting 85% of sunlight. Its salt crust reaches 30 centimeters thick in the center, surpassing the thinner deposits of the competing Uyuni Salt Flat by 5%. This expanse yields 300,000 tons of salt annually, more than double the production of any other Argentine salt flat, making it the brightest natural landmark in the Puna region.
