Charly Garcia
Charly Garcia is the godfather of Argentine rock, with a career spanning five decades and over 20 studio albums that consistently pushed boundaries. His 1980 album "Yendo de la Cama al Living" sold 250,000 copies in its first week, a national record for rock at the time, and its single "No Me Dejan Salir" spent 8 weeks at #1 on Argentine charts. Garcia's influence is 35% greater than #3 Luis Alberto Spinetta's in terms of mainstream chart presence, with 15 top-ten hits compared to Spinetta's 9. His 1984 concert at River Plate Stadium drew 70,000 fans, the largest rock audience in Argentine history to that point.
