A UNESCO World Heritage Site in Chihuahua, Paquime was the most sophisticated urban center in northern Mexico between 900 and 1200 CE, featuring multi-story adobe apartment compounds, an extensive water management system, and evidence of macaw breeding for feather trade with Mesoamerica. The site's T-shaped doorways and ball courts indicate strong cultural links with the Pueblo peoples of the American Southwest.
