Shinichiro Watanabe's 1998 space western is 26 episodes of jazz-infused, noir-tinged bounty hunting that remains the coolest anime ever made. Spike Spiegel and his crew drift through a retro-futuristic solar system chasing bounties and running from their pasts. The soundtrack by Yoko Kanno (Seatbelts) is one of the greatest in television history. Cowboy Bebop was the show that convinced an entire generation of Toonami viewers that anime could be art. The live-action Netflix adaptation lasted one season; the original is eternal.
