Ski Jumping Drama: Last-Jump Gold

Ski jumping's final round can be brutal, and this one was no exception: Japan's Ren Nikaidō carried the round-one lead into the last jump, only to watch Slovenia's Domen Prevc answer with a stronger 141.5-metre effort that took gold by 6.8 points. Nikaidō's own final jump came up short at 136.5 metres, enough to drop him to silver. Austria's Jan Hörl and Stephan Embacher finished in the top ten, while normal-hill gold medalist Philipp Raimund of Germany placed ninth. Margins that tight, on the biggest stage in the sport, are what make the final round so unforgiving.
