These ten venues aren't really competing with each other — they're built for different kinds of shows. Arenas like Madison Square Garden are designed around scale: big screens, tiered seating, and a sightline system that assumes most of the crowd is watching a jumbotron as much as the stage. Outdoor amphitheaters — Red Rocks, the Hollywood Bowl, the Gorge — trade that consistency for a setting no indoor room can match, but the tradeoff is real: sound behaves differently outdoors depending on wind and humidity, and a show can be delayed or altered by weather in a way an arena show never will be.

Mid-size clubs are their own category again.
